Classic Italian fare & pizzas served in an upscale-casual cafe with lively bar & gluten-free menu.
Walking in atmosphere is moderatly upscale, I would recommend casual sheek. The manager was at the hostess stand and sat me right near the window, with a nice view. Water glasses were a little beat up so they looked dirty. I tried to order a specialty cocktail but they were out of the liquor to make it on a Friday night. I settled for a mock tail (above average). I ordered the wood fired lasagna and received bread as an appetizer. The lasagna was good and hot until I hit the center, which was room temperature. For dessert I had the peanut butter and chocolate pie, which was excellent if you enjoy a creamy peanut butter with a nice chocolate ganache. Next time I would return for a different entree, but the staff were attentive and friendly. The price and portion was equivalent.

The staff is outstanding. Hands-down, one of the friendliest and most helpful servers. They go above and beyond for families with kids. Appreciated that. Prices are on the higher side. Vegano pizza is small. Vegan burger is very filling with a side of fries (extra charge for sweet potatoes). Music was a bit too loud and did not fit the otherwise more elegant ambience. Please consider making vegan sauces also, especially when offering them on the vegan menu 🙏🏼 — a pleasant experience overall, definitely recommend!

This place is good. Not great, but good. That’s the gist of my experience both times I’ve eaten here. They take risks with the food that I can appreciate, but for the most part they fall a little flat. For example the bruschetta was more of a cooked “stew” with a really good toast. Wasn’t what I was expecting and it was a little mediocre, but still good. The fried polenta with a mushroom sauce and parsley was again interesting but not as good as it sounded. Finally I had the veal Parmesan that was mixed with a fettuccine Alfredo. Very heavy sauce and the veal was dry. Good, but not great. The service is where it’s at. My drink rarely went to empty. The wait staff was very attentive, friendly, and conversational. The atmosphere is nice and fairly modern. I will be back each time I’m in Jackson.

Sat in front of the pantry station, I had the very best conversations with the chefs 👩🍳! Jeff has a talented team cooking the very best in Italian cuisine. The shrimp and scallops were amazing, seasoned to perfection, light and airy! Caesar salad with homemade croutons that were rich and tasty! Can't be topped!

It’s a great place for romantic dates, birthdays, and casual meetings. The food, service, and ambiance are great. Been here twice. Highly recommended!!

Jhon Kevin Lerias
Southern-accented steakhouse in clubby digs with leather banquettes, warm woods & large bar area.
Loved our experience at Char. My husband and I went here on a date for my birthday! We started off with the crab cakes *chefs kiss*. Then we went all “caveman” as my husband calls it because I wanted to share the Cowboy Ribeye & Lamb chops. I don’t know about y’all but I want a drink with my dinner and my drink of poison is a Moscow Mule- made to perfection! Quick service and our food came out quick!

Absolutely fabulous experience! Our server, AJ, was attentive and personable. She was knowledgeable of the menu and gave great food recommendations. Sadly, I didn't listen and ordered something that turned out to be less than stellar. AJ and Brian came to my rescue and allowed me to change my selection. Even in service industries, it's rare to find places that genuinely want to see the customer happy and AJ and Brian did just that. Thank you both for an amazing lunch experience!

I’ve been here many times and always enjoy the phenomenal food and service. First time visit for my Wife tonight and her NY Strip was a little undercooked. The manager could not have been more professional! They quickly corrected and it was delicious and perfectly cooked. The manager was not convinced she was happy (although she was thoroughly impressed) and brought a gift card back to the table. If only all restaurant managers treated customers like this when things go slightly wrong. Fixed the problem quickly and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. Will definitely be back! Kudos to Char!

The first time I came here about 4 months ago, I told everyone about it and that it was absolutely a top 10 steak house - a contender for one of the best in the country. My return visit confirmed that. Both times I got the 16 oz. NY Strip, different sides both times, Caesar Salad, and this time we shared some desserts. Everything was perfectly as it should be - delicious. I really can't attempt to rate this place against other Top 10 steakhouses because I visit them infrequently and they are all so good, but I can conclude by saying that you should have a solid five-star experience if you dine here. Only regret is that the health department made them take the cool mouthwash dispensing machine out of the men's room. Don't pass up the opportunity to visit Char, whether you want steak or not, they have great food and attentive service.

Love the atmosphere it was amazing and vibrant. The fried crab claws were so good. I also had the gumbo which was so meaty. The lamb chop were tender and the scallops were so good. Everything was seasoned to perfection. My favorite were the fried artichokes, omg they melt in my mouth and taste so amazing. I can’t wait to visit again and take more members of my family. The blueberry bread pudding was different but good.

Hearty Southern eats, from beef ribs to fried chicken & catfish, in unpretentious surroundings.
No real complaints other than they were out of the friend chicken and the mac n cheese was sitting in grease (though freaking delicious!). I got a meat and two sides. The beef tips and rice were a filling and tasty meat. The spiced collard greens were delicious and the cornbread muffin was perfectly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Sweet tea was so sweet, just like i like it.

I was driving through Jackson on a long road trip and stubbled upon this place with Spectacular food. Really great home cooked fried chicken, yams and collard greens! The staff made me feel at home too. Thank you for welcoming me!

I’ve been hearing about this place for a long time and finally tried it! The staff were very friendly! I felt really welcome. I ordered the pork chop with Mac and cheese, and yams. Everything was good, the portions could have been a little bigger but overall I would definitely come back!

The food here was amazing! We got in at around 4, so a lot of stuff was sold out (which makes sense, since so much is made fresh), so I would recommend getting there earlier or ordering ahead. We had the catfish, fried chicken, baked chicken, okra and tomatoes, collard greens, mac and cheese, and green beans. All of it was well seasoned and fresh. The service was friendly and they communicated well. The food came out in about 25 minutes and was piping hot.

We gave it a four star because for the simple fact my husband is a rib connoisseur, but that being said he noticed that they boiled their ribs so therefore the ribs were OK. My food was great my catfish I feel was a little over fried but it was still good, the atmosphere was amazing. Customer service was great. If we ever in Jackson again, I would definitely go back and visit them again thank you Bully’s.

Princess Amira Agee
Longtime, family-owned, counter-serve joint offering burgers & homestyle Southern dishes.
Rooster's has some of the best chicken in the Jackson area. One of my favorites is the Smothered Chicken and Grits. I have had many items off of the menu, and all have been great. The hot hot chicken sandwich served slider style is fantastic as well. If you hit them up right at noon, you may have a longer wait, but it's well worth it.

I've recently been encouraging my 9yo daughter to speak more, so I let her order her own meal. The waitress was very patient and kind and even gave my daughter props for ordering her own food. We didn't have to wait long for our food and they checked in on us to make sure we were OK. I can't get that kind of service anywhere else these days so it was very appreciated.

great food and service! Wasn’t sure what to order but got a great recommendation of red beans and rice from the staff. Large portion of food and very fresh! Highly recommend

Parking can be tricky. Interesting place. Friendly staff and fast service. It was fairly busy during my recent lunch visit. I opted for chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gravy with a side of green beans. Sweet tea was delicious! My meal was good but probably wouldn’t order it again. CFS was flavorful but the meat was chewy. Other sides were good. I saw other people ordering hamburgers and they looked amazing! That’s probably what I should have gotten.

Lively, family-friendly chain featuring Italian standards such as pastas & salads.
We waited 2 hrs just to be seated. We was set on eating here and couldn't wait for the endless pasta. However our waitress didn't really seem to care about us. We had to ask for salad and our breadsticks. Asked for refills on water we never got and when we did it was in a to go cup. Was wanting more pasta but brought us to go box's instead! She only seemed to care about getting off then taking care of our table. Food was amazing service not so much.

I stopped in for a quick glass of wine and an appetizer after I had been out shopping. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was great. She had a very positive attitude and she was fast. I enjoyed a glass of chardonnay and had the cheese stuffed ziti. Everything was delicious!

Loved the environment. The staff were quick enough to get us a booth in minutes and very helpful.

I ate here for lunch one day when I was visiting my Brother, who lives not far away in Ridgeland, it was OK, certainly edible, though that was before the Pandemic struck, when I still had a large appetite. I may have made a mistake in order placement though. My bill total came to ~$40 for myself alone. That was surprisingly about ~$15 more than I expected. It was an enjoyable meal, though I have not returned since.

Everything was amazing !! The service , the atmosphere, and the food. My only complaint was the tablets. I seen a little game on the tablet, played around with it one time because it was very slow and was lagging bad. When I seen my ticket it charged me $2.99 for games I didn’t even play lol. That whole thing just ruined my mood. If I was gonna pay to play a game , I might as well played the game. This my first time using the tablets but I know next time not to use them and just to pay in cash instead. Overall everything was perfect !!!

Fantastic place off the beaten path! Very friendly people and great service. The food was first rate. Our server Batrika was nice and helpful. The fried chicken was very good and the chopped steak had a good sear and great flavor. Food is served in a Styrofoam box with plastic utensils. This makes eating some items tricky, but it keeps overhead down. If not for that, this would be a 5 star establishment.

Matt in Mississippi
That was the most delicious food I have eaten in a long time! I am not a fish eater but it looked so delicious online. Every single thing was crack-a-lacking’. It was a lot to eat. I had tilapia over a bed of grits and spinach. It came with shrimp and all over a bed of grits and shrimp. It was out of this world. We we traveling but you can bet we will return on the next trip. The tea was perfect, the mixed drink was great, and to top it all the ambiance with the music was relaxing. Not to forget how wonderful the service was. The waiter was so helpful and nice, as were all the other other ones. This place makes the kind of food that needs to be served in the top of the line restaurants in Las Vegas. It was a bit pricey. It could cost a lot less. Also my dish had tilapia and grits instead of catfish and rice. We thoroughly enjoyed it Go check it out for yourself!

It looks a little odd from the outside but the food was amazing and such a vibe inside. I got the Cajun chicken pasta and every bite was amazing. Also 10/10 recommend this drink

As a regular patron of this establishment, I can confidently say that it is one of the best places to dine in the area. The food at Johnny T’s Bistro & Blues is simply amazing. The menu is diverse and offers a wide range of options to choose from. The dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients and are cooked to perfection. I particularly enjoy their vegetarian options, which is always cooked to perfection and served with steamed broccoli and other vegetables. The overall dining experience at Johnny T’s Bistro & Blues is also top-notch. The ambiance is lively and welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant also has a Renaissance Room upstairs that offers a unique dining experience. I highly recommend Johnny T’s Bistro & Blues to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Jackson, Mississippi. It’s definitely worth a visit!

I went there twice in one week. Just so happened that my out-of-town friends were on a plane and this was one of the recommendations to attend - and my oh my, it was a great recommendation. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great, the music was fabulous and it just added to our girlfriends experience. Oh yeah, did I mention that the drinks were fantastic. That liquid marijuana, (a drink..) oh baby yeah! The location is kind of out of the way, but we weren’t really concerned. And you will not regret having gone there as they have a variety of dishes from steamed vegetables, which the girls absolutely loved, to seafood and burgers, Even the fries were ‘to write home about.’ do not hesitate to make this part of your Jackson dining experience. There are pictures of historical people and stars on the exterior walls. The entrance understates the vibe and ambience inside. I got so caught up in everything else forgot to mention that the service was on point as well.

Southern fare with a twist & original cocktails spotlighted in modern-rustic digs with a patio.
Stopped in for dinner the other night and it was a fantastic experience! The vibe is inviting & cozy. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who were both friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed the Comeback Wedge salad, the Teres Major (steak dish), and the Redfish #2. All 3 were extremely good! Whether you're looking for a special night out or just craving some fantastic food, this place delivers. It's a five-star gem that I'll definitely be returning to soon.

The flat out best salmon AND bread pudding I have ever had, and I eat the both of these regularly! I don’t live in Mississippi but I will be sure to eat there every time I visit!

We ate dinner here last night and the food was fantastic.. like really.. wow. We started with the crawfish fondue then I had the short rib. My husband had the teres major and it was a lot of food + a whiskey cocktail that I think had wine in the top which sounds a little weird but it was so good. We couldn’t have asked for better service. Jonah was so nice and checked on us regularly without being overbearing and was really helpful when we were picking out entrees. Overall the entire experience was fantastic. The best I’ve had in Jackson.

Stopped by this place after looking for a good restaurant and it was absolutely delicious. Ordered a No 7 burger with fries, and it was great. Highly recommend.

First time in Jackson and we decided to try this place out and they did NOT disappoint! The drinks are great, and the ambiance was perfect. We had the Shrimp crunch appetizer, Red Fish #1, and the Steak Frites as well as the Bread pudding for dessert. The steak was one of the best best ribeyes I’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot. The bread pudding was heaven. The only complaint we had was that the chairs are quite uncomfortable and aren’t meant for anyone with hips….so we asked to move to a booth. The food was a bar-setter for the rest of our trip for sure.
