Homestyle Cuban dishes are the draw at this neighborhood eatery with an upbeat atmosphere.
Great Cuban food, large portions, fun atmosphere. Understaffed, so service is slow, but pleasant. Be patient, the food is worth the wait. Ate there for dinner and for breakfast. Generous portions, so be prepared to take food home!

Kuba Kuba gave a vibe of neighborhood favorites with lots of history plastered all over the restaurant. Went there with high expectation since I was recommended by someone who lived around. Lunch hour on weekday wasn’t too busy but everyone seemed pretty occupied so had to wait couple of minutes just to be greeted. Paella Valeciana is definitely not the dish I would order again. Seafood in there was not fresh at all. Had an upset stomach throughout my entire trip home. Would visit again just for the vibe and maybe try other items apart from seafood.

Fantastic restaurant! I came here on a Saturday night, and there was no wait. They don't take reservations, so it's first come, first served. I ordered a Sloppy José, which is a hot sandwich with ropa vieja and swiss cheese inside. It is also served with fried plantains, which were delicious! The key lime pie I ordered was also very good! The portions are huge, so be prepared to take a box back or split the dish with someone.

Delicious Cuban spot right in Richmond downtown. Their fried plantains are amazing! Cuban sandwich is delicious. Huge and super tasty plates. Friendly and helpful servers. They are pretty busy at lunch, so sometimes might be hard to get a table. We arrived right before the rush lunch time. The only thing I didn't like is that after we got our food, the servers didn't pay any more attention to us.. they were busy with other tables. It took us a while to get our check. But I get it, not enough employees. Apart from that, overall good food and good place. Would definitely come back

This place was very busy but they got us in quickly. The food portions were generous and the flavors were unlike anything I've had before. The one bathroom was always busy and the booth I sat in appeared loose as the people behind me seemed to shake and bump me the entire time we were there.

Casual brick-lined Italian restaurant with a full bar & plenty of calamari dishes on the menu.
Immensely enjoyed the food and can't wait to go back. Very inconspicuous place, if you're not paying attention, you'll walk right by it. Even the entry is simply a staircase until you get upstairs. First impression, place is fairly small, but some of the seating is cramped. Your neighbors are so close, you'll feel like they're part of your party. Place will get loud when full. Don't expect a quiet dinner. But the food.. Amazing!! Portions aren't only large enough to share, but you'll have plenty for a second or third meal. I'm hoping they won't have the Spaghetti and Crab next time on the menu so I can try something else, because I'll be tempted to get it again. Can't wait to make my next reservation.

Food was GREAT, portions were huge (like, really big, it seemed like people around us were sharing things). The only thing I could say it the seating arrangements are a little tight, but it’s also not a big space in there— it wouldn’t stop me from going back. We were a party of two on a Friday night and we didn’t have a reservation and we were able to get it, but I would recommend a reservation.

Reservations are highly recommended for bigger parties. We went as a walk in, party of 2 and were seated in about 50 minutes. This place is truly out of this world. It's super small inside, but the food is worth it all.

Extremely delicious dishes, generous sizes, and great prices considering the aforementioned qualities. I loved this place because it was unpretentious and a wonderful experience. The ambiance was also lively, friendly, enjoyable. I ducked a star because service was slow and they were distracted all the time. I get that it was busy but they just didn’t click with the rest. Although, worth mentioning, we did get seated on a Friday night as walk ins. Still highly recommend going. We ordered the arugula salad, the mussels with white sauce, and squid napoletana. Also great selection of wines, we chose a bottle of 100% sangiovese, montepulciano from 2018 because why not? Price was fair for the quality.

This was the second time I tried Edo's Squid. I wanted to make sure that I was correct in never wanting to come back here again. It worked. It is TOO crowded, and the food (in my opinion as a first-generation Italian whose parents were from Italy) was beyond mediocre. I think THEY think that if they serve you large portions, it will makeup for the poor taste of the food. Among me and my friends (both times) we sampled at least eight of the pastas. All were beyond mediocre. The food was also EXTREMELY salty, something that is SO TOTALLY NOT necessary when preparing Italian-type cuisine. Also, despite reservations, had to wait for 45 minutes to be seated AND another 30 minutes before the mediocre food arrived. Full disclosure...I did ask for left overs to be boxed NOT because I wanted them later but because I LOVE the takeout containers! So, if you are looking for great take out plastic containers and do not mind a crowded, loud place that serves beyond mediocre food, but has great take out containers, look no more! This Italian-American will NOT be returning.

Elevated New American fare & craft cocktails in a stately space with marble columns & high ceilings.
It was truly an amazing experience. Decided to check them out for my birthday, and the fact that the hostess and the waitress knew was an extra touch. They even printed my name on the menu. Food was amazing. Served with no rush, warm, and extremely tasty. Their drinks and wine menu were also excellent. We will definitely come back.

'We had made reservations at a tea house across the street, but when we arrived, we're told they had no table for two since they had over-booked. No problem since we walked across the street to the Jefferson Hotel and were able to get a table in the lovely Lemaire Restaurant. We enjoyed delicious fried oysters, lump crab cake served over grits, sauteed spinach, and bernaise sauce. They were also serving tea at white clothed tables outside in the mezzanine that had beautiful silver settings. We will make a reservation for tea at the Jefferson Hotel next time! I

A great graduation dinner for our son. Very accommodating restaurant, personalized menu for him! Starting with strong drinks and finishing with one of the best crème brûlée desserts around! Highly recommend this place.

Playful, sophisticated spins on French cuisine & craft cocktails in an eclectic, art-filled space.
The overall experience is amazing. L'Opossum is a cozy little restaurant hidden in the Oregon Hill neighborhood. The atmosphere is artsy and cozy at the same time. The food is expertly prepared and served beautifully. We enjoyed our appetizers and meals. Susan is an excellent server and attentive. The entire staff takes care of the customers to ensure everyone is receiving what they need. You don't go just for the food but the overall experience. I won't wait so long to come back next time! They also have vegetarian/vegan meals and are attentive to any food concerns you may have.

Food is consistently delicious, unique, and beautifully plated every time we've visited. The cocktails are wittily named and refreshing. The steak is definitely the best dish thus far. The atmosphere cannot be beat! If you're looking for a quiet, well lit restaurant this is not the place you; especially if you get seated in the middle rowed tables you'll hear a lot and may feel in the way. But still a lovely experience!

Had dinner with my husband here last night and probably had one of the best dinners we've ever had. The atmosphere is dimly lit, romantic and cozy. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and food was out of this world. Forewarning, it is on the pricey side but well worth every penny.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! The atmosphere is so cozy and fun, the decor is amazing. Our server Susan was very kind and knowledgeable about all of the dishes on the menu. We got the oysters rock, the lobster mac, the beef wellington, and the chocolate cake and everything was so delicious! Our food was served very quickly, we didn’t wait more than 10 minutes between courses. If you’re lucky you’ll meet Jack, the friendly orange tabby cat whose collar says that he lives down the street but like to visit L’opossum. Overall we had a wonderful time, I can’t recommend it enough!!!

Outstanding. Intimate and cozy restaurant in old corner home very knowledgeable and accommodating staff. Food truly some of the very best we have ever enjoyed. We had escargot, oysters, crab cakes and scallops. We took a special bottle of wine to celebrate our 25th anniversary so we did not review the wine list but a glass of syrah the manager brought me was very good. Highly recommended!

A onetime tobacco warehouse, this elegant, brick-walled eatery offers elevated Chesapeake fare.
Reservation for 2 were made for my husband’s birthday. This is a very quaint, romantic upscale restaurant. The service was commendable. The ambiance was excellent. We had courtyard seating which was very elegant. The steak was some of the best I’ve had. My husband was well pleased with his seafood selection and he is not easily impressed. They offered a free dessert for the birthday person which was chocolate my favorite. It was a delicious ending to a great meal.

The food is great. I got the 2.5 lb stuffed lobster and my husband got the Cowboy steak and mashed potatoes. So good! The atmosphere is very classy and the staff is amazing. The owner is funny and personable and took pictures at the end of us and with us…so funny!

Hubby surprised me with a Perfect romantic dinner for our anniversary! Alex was an impeccable server and treated us like family! The appetizer along with our wines went perfectly together and the staff was super helpful and kept our table clean. If I could give 10 stars I would!

I was feeling some type of way because the special I was offered was sold out after I had already had my mouth set on receiving it. However, after I got over the disappointment I ordered something else. The crabcakes were exactly that with no fillers whatsoever. The swordfish delicious and the lobster was cooked to perfection. It appears that Richmond has a lot of hidden jewels like this in the area in places that looks like abandoned wear houses.

Let me start off by saying this place had the most welcoming ambiance that I have endured in a while. The customized menu was my favorite part. If you go with someone special they can customize the menu just for the occasion. The crab cakes were the best! And the brownie was to die for!

Stylish, modern destination for chef-driven European dining & desserts with craft cocktails & wines.
How can I put into words the incredible dinner my husband and I shared at Brenner Pass?! We sat at the bar - the best place to sit - and were taken care of by our amazing bartender. Started off with killer cocktails, then oysters (probably the best I’ve had in years), sides, mains, and dessert. I mean, if you are going to do it, you got to do it right! Each item was better than the last and complement each other beautifully. A must go for a random Thursday night or for a special occasion.

Went here recently for a date night. I had to make reservations with my credit card and there was a $20/person fee for not showing or cancelling outside of the approved time frame. Needless to say, my expectations were high. Fortunately, Brenner's Pass came through. Out waitress ran through the reach of the menu items for us and gave us recommendations. We ordered the charcuterie board, scalloped potatoes, pork belly and trout. The charcuterie was very good, with several house made items. The scalloped potatoes were delicious. There was a significant wait for the main dishes to come out, but it was worth the wait. The pork belly was good, very tender. The pureed carrot was cold, not sure if it was supposed to be that way. I would've preferred it to be warm. The trout was good, skin was crispy. It came with a salsa that was very sweet. For dessert, we ordered the white chocolate pistachio cake, cantaloupe sorbet and cheesecake. All were very good. The sorbet tasted like they had blended frozen cantaloupes. The ambiance was a mixed bag. We arrived at 5:30pm and it was still light out, most of the tables were empty and it was pretty quiet. By the time we left, the restaurant was full, candles were lit and it was pretty noisy. Overall, a very good experience.

Food was a 3.5/5. The shrimp cavetelli was SO salty and the sauce was not good at all. We really liked the anchovy toast and ribeye was delicious. There’s easy parking and service was great.

If Metzgers was Brittney Anderson on Bobby Flay Triple Threat, then Brenner Pass is her going out in the first episode of Top Chef. We loved the food at Metzgers, but was truly disappointed by our experience at Brenners Pass. The restaurant was so loud we could not hear each other talk and the design was very cold. The appetizers were pretty good and maybe the highlight of the meal but the tuna we had could’ve been totally left out of the dish because the veggies were so good and the sauce was so incredible, my friend had the pork belly and it was so fatty and had no flavor that he sent it back. My friend, the birthday girl loved her trout. It was very very tasty. I had the chicken masala and it was just OK. It was not the juiciest piece of chicken or the tastiest sauce. My boyfriend really enjoyed his cavatelli. Another friend got the trout as well and there’s was raw in the middle. Not like it was a rare piece of fish, but it’s just completely raw.We saw a lot of people getting the hamburger and we kind a wish we had as well. The cocktails were interesting and overall pretty tasty, but we will not be returning.

Presentation and service are nice but for the price and choices, I would pass. Luckily this was on a friend’s dime. Their palate paid a lot for my chicken, and their small chop.

Laid-back eatery whipping up classic Southern comfort food such as burgers, ribs, seafood & cobbler.
Get reservations early because they book up quickly. Sat on the patio, but the food was worth the chill factor that night. Great mix of inventive flavors. Short ribs were perfect fall of the bone. Don’t miss out. I repeat don’t miss out.

The waiter was very pleasant. We sat outside, and it was just a beautiful Sunday. Heck, we all witnessed someone trying to fit in between 2 cars and hit one as we sat in front of the restaurant. That was enough entertainment for 1 day.

I really enjoyed the Lillie Pearl. It is a laid back atmosphere with high end service and food. The crab cakes were made with more crab than filler. The smoked wings are in my top 3 I've ever tasted, the mash potatoes rival my recipe and the brussel sprouts are definitely from grandma kitchen. This place has tapped a really nice recipe book with a chef that can certainly execute in the kitchen.

It was my birthday weekend and our first time going. The service was great. I wish I remembered the waiter name he was so pleasant and very detail. My husband had shrimp and grits and I had the crab cakes. The food was delicious and I can’t wait to go back.

My experience was a very good one. My co-workers stopped in for lunch. Upon arrival, the staff was pleasant. Our food was served in a great time frame. I can't remember the name of our waitress, a young dark brown-skinned African American woman; she was VERY sweet & patient. She's the PERFECT example of how waiters & waitresses should be. I got the Lobster & Crab crab cake sandwich, with a side of Fried Brussel Sprouts. Both were very good.
