A nice evening meal out. The decor and ambience of the restaurant was welcoming, light and open. You certainly felt like you were walking into a nice place. We were quickly escorted to our table and drinks ordered which came within 10 minutes. For starters we had ‘tempura’ sea food and chicken parfait. Unfortunately the batter was way to thick to be called tempura which was a shame because I ended up leaving over half the batter due to it being too thick and uncooked on the inside. I ended up taking out the shell fish. Which I will add. Was cooked beautifully. Very well cooked. Just a shame on the batter. The chicken parfait was very smooth and full of flavour with thick cut bread and sweet and tangy onion jam/marmalade. For mains we ordered 2x 10oz rib eye medium rare and 2 x 7oz fillet with 5 sides being 2 x chunky chips, ‘seasonal’ veg, onion rings (warning coming up) and creamed spinach. The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly to our liking which were accompanied by a roasted tomato and shallot. The sauces again were very nice. Chunky chips were fluffy and crispy. The creamed spinach was amazing and had a nice thick layer of cheese on top. Now, the onion rings, came with a thin cheese (maybe Parmesan) sauce drizzled on top. Which wasn’t stated on the menu. Unfortunately my partner doesn’t like strong cheese so this was a big no for her. Big shame. The seasonal veg, isn’t what most would class as seasonal, more like steamed/boiled standard broccoli cauliflower carrots peas swimming in a shallow pool of water in the bottom of the cup. Overall, I would recommend and I would come again!

The food is really great and highly recommended the chateaubriand. Only let down is the service. We expected more knowledgeable staff, and at times staff were oddly slightly rude or not well trained for finer dining.

Aug bank holiday weekend. We found this place on the main square and managed to get a last minute booking. The food is excellent!👌

Called here for dinner with friends one evening. A busy restaurant with a comfortable and relaxed feel. The menu has plenty of choices and options to cater to most tastes. The steaks were all cooked to perfection (fillet steak and a chateaubriand, both medium rare). What's not to love! The service was friendly and relaxed, and we didn't feel rushed at any point. Prices are reasonable. Booking is highly recommended. I would call here again. Recommended

Went for my birthday, customer service and waiting staff were atrocious. My wife booked and mentioned we would like a special experience for my birthday. Whilst the waiter was taking our food order another waiter pushed his way through with the drinks, like something out of Fawlty towers. Sat us between 2 other couples so no privacy, as all sat on top of one another however the steak was great but the whole experience was ruined by the staff and the atmosphere which was like being at a wake.

Relaxed spot for classic Thai fare including sharing plates & veggie options with full bar.
Decent food with vegan options, outdoor seating, and good service. Stir fry dishes and noodle dishes can be made vegan, curries cannot. Food was good but not very flavorful. Thai veggie salad was very spicy and too many onions. Spring rolls were good.

Delicious Thai food in Stratford-upon-Avon on main busy road (can't recall street name) where all the buses travel. Had quick lunch here on way to visit Shakespeare sights. Looks like a lovely ambience for dinner too. Fresh tasty Thai food with Thai servers. I enjoyed a delicious Thai crispy duck papaya salad. Great for familes, couples, solo travelers, everyone 😀 Definitely recommend 👍

Best Thai food I have ever had! Everything tasted amazing, was brought out promptly, and the staff were lovely

Very welcoming and attentive staff. It was a very busy Saturday night but they took good care of us and even though the food took a while due to it being so busy, it was well worth the wait. Cooked to perfection. No faults. I had the veg spring rolls with a plum sauce to start with and they were delicious as was the chicken vermicelli main course. The waitress was really helpful and couldn't do enough for us, plus really friendly and chatty. Great atmosphere inside and very clean and well presented. Would definitely recommend. 😋

Beautiful atmosphere. Clearly very authentic. Staff were lovely and friendly. The waitress who served us recommended the Penang curry which was delicious. Lovely and spicy. I do think that the Green curry was a bit too liquid for my liking, but I suppose this is how it is served authentically. Prices were reasonable, especially for the area and I don’t think they applied a service charge. I’d highly recommend.

Wood-accented locale with vibrant artwork, offering Mexican & Spanish tapas, craft beer & tequila.
Really good food the best ribs I've ever had and been able to eat with a knife and fork - so slowly cooked the meat just fell off!! Beautiful. Enchiladas also packed with the most tender roast beef. Waitress lovely and friendly as were all staff. Recommended by my son - we'll definitely be back next trip in September :0)

A great tapas bar close to the centre of Keswick, which we keep coming back to. Typically busy, so booking is recommended! Excellent food and great staff with a good beer selection, would definitely recommend!

Delightful tapas served in the heart of Keswick. A variety of decent sized portions and a huge range of tequilas /other drinks make this place stand out. I particularly liked the salt and pepper squid served with a smoky chipotle mayo dip and my crema catalana dessert option.

Great food. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere with quiet music. Recommend booking if you have a large group although we did manage to get a table as walkins for 4 people. Dog friendly. Wish it was open earlier as would have been a lovely lunch spot! Definitely recommend. Even the fussiest eaters should find options they enjoy.

Bar eS is one of the best food restaurants in the whole of the Lakes! Incredible food with amazing quality ingredients used throughout. We ordered a bit too much but ate it all as it was just so nice we couldn't waste any. So reasonably priced for the quality you're getting. Staff are so polite and will answer any questions. They also stock some really nice local beers too. There's something for everyone! Will be back next time I'm in Keswick. Edit: Came back again and everything was as good as the last time! Beautiful flavours, great attentive staff. Can't be faulted.

Local ales & a menu of hearty comfort food in a traditional pub that has outdoor seating.
1st night in Keswick, and we had to come back to the Pheasant Inn. We came across it last year on our last night, and we had a fantastic meal, so we said we would come back whenever we're in Keswick. Tonight didn't disappoint. Great ales , great food and fantastic staff who can't do enough for you. It was really busy as usual, but the food came out after a short wait. It's dog friendly in the bar area too .We Love this place and will always return. Best place in Keswick.

The Pheasant Inn is a traditional pub/restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We were a party of four visiting for a meal on a busy early Sunday evening (booking definitely recommend). The service was attentive and friendly. The food is very tasty and we would have no problem recommending our choices which were, Mediterranean Risotto, Cumberland Sausage and Venison bourguignon. They serve evening specials in addition to the main menu. There are vegetarian choices and the pub is dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.

I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to do this. We are on holiday in the Lake District and ate dinner tonight at The Pheasant. The food was truly remarkable. It was beautifully cooked and the portions very generous. The staff were very attentive without being pushy and lovely to chat with and the surroundings were very homely. Family all had Lamb Henry whilst I ate the venison. Sticky toffee pudding to follow. If you're in the Lake District you must eat here. Quite honestly, by far the best meal I've eaten out in a long time. So good we re- booked for tomorrow!

Wonderful dining experience; although booked to capacity our main courses were served piping hot within ten minutes of ordering. I would personally recommend the Lakeland lamb served on baby spinach, with a rosemary & cranberry jus .......... heaven on a plate. The dessert of lemon posset with shortbread was nothing short of spectacular either Book ahead, and if possible park on the opposite side of the road to the pub (although spaces are limited).

They were all booked up, unsurprisingly, but there was room outside on the terrace so we took it. I was told we are very busy, food may well be 30mins.. it arrived in 10 to 15mins I reckon, although I was not watching the clock, and it tasted great. Very generous portions and great value for money. Would definitely drop by again when I am next in Keswick.

Coelia safe meal. Staff were friendly and multiple options on the menu were gluten free. I had a gluten free pizza which was really nice! They even had multiple gluten free dessert options.

Had a great meal here this week on our visit to Keswick. The service was excellent. We had Rustica pizza, pollo carbonara, and garlic bread with cheese pizza. Loved the thin crust. Definitely recommend.

Amazingly tasty food served by incredibly friendly staff. One of the best Italians we’ve had in a long while - would definitely recommend!

Just great, tasty, no fuss food. Place was busy but seemed to be well staffed to cope with the demands. I had 4 cheese pizza but swapped the blue cheese for artichoke hearts and it was delightful, the thin base tastes better than it looks perhaps haha. My partner really enjoyed their sausage ragu and cheesecake. I had some gelato for dessert and it was really great. Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in Keswick. They also do takeaway Gelato all day.

Katie-Louise Wire (KatieLouise93)
Traditional 17th-century coaching inn with free breakfast, regional dining and a cosy pub.
We stayed here on a Saturday night, booking direct with the hotel gets you free breakfast (always a bonus). We were greeted by a lovely gentleman, very helpful and happy. Our room was comfortable, clean and perfect for our needs. We had a few drinks downstairs and felt at home. The staff were very helpful and the whole atmosphere was great. The food was amazing, the steak pie was A-MAZING!... Breakfast was lovely too, the chef made us laugh with his wittiness and friendly manner. We will definitely be booking again in the future... Keep up the great work guys and girls 5/5 stars

Bobbed in for Cow pie after an 8 mile hike, recommended by a friend.. Not disappointed, Fantastic dish, enough for two, but there was only one of me so I ate it all. 🐷. Very friendly welcome, cosy pub, gorgeous food. Definitely recommend.... Thanks George Hotel for filling my belly👍🤣

There's no doubt the George has found it's feet once more. The present management are professional and helpful. We enjoyed a family meal on Halloween night, the menu was excellent, we ordered curry, chicken and mushroom pie, fish pie, gammon all served with fresh vegetables. Although busy our meal arrived quickly, excellent service. We will happily return to The George.

Came here for lunch whilst in Keswick and we were made to feel very welcome with our dog. The menu selection was very good with lots of homemade options. I hadn’t planned to have a pie as I’d had two recently, however they looked amazing and were huge so I couldn’t resist and was not disappointed. Really tasty and great value. Would recommend if you are in the area.

On holiday ate at this hotel several years ago, before the change of owners. Back then the food did not taste so good but the portions were biblical. Last week on holiday again I tried the George because it had new owners and I was curious. Firstly, the staff greeting was friendly and genuine, the menu is good and fairly diverse. The service is great and the food, although still huge portions, now has flavour and texture befitting a good hotel restaurant. Priced possibly slightly above average, it is very good value for money and I would eat here again on my next visit to Keswick. Well done the staff of the George.

Long-standing restaurant serving fish 'n' chips in a tranquil space with exposed ceiling beams.
The fish was amazing quality with decent sized chips followed by the most tasty mushy peas I've had in a while. Amazing chippy with a very friendly staff and very helpful, the restaurant is downstairs and upstairs and also has a takeaway section too. Very busy but served as quickly as they could with waiting times no more than fifteen minutes. Certainly one of my favourite chippies of all time.

Superb dishes. Excellent food and very reasonable prices. Located close to Moot Hall facing old market square. Most of the time there is a long queue outside for take away. There is additional seating upstairs. If dining in, head to the staircase directly, avoiding the queue. Dine in prices are 10-20 pct higher than take away. Service was good and staff was friendly. We were there on a sunday and it closed by 8.30-9.00. Closed earlier than other restaurants around.

A sit down chippy with friendly staff, good food and plenty of choices… We arrived at 1pm on a Sunday and managed to get a table upstairs straight away, we were given our menus and the drinks order taken immediately - we had two cokes which were surprisingly glass bottle cokes, the best kind! The menu has your fish and chip shop classics along with burgers, kids meals and plenty of sides. We weren’t sure whether you ordered at the counter or not so I asked a member of staff and she was very apologetic for the wait, I wasn’t trying to rush her on or anything - I simply asked how we order, I don’t want her feeling like she let the service down because she didn’t at all! I ordered smoked sausage with chips, gravy and a buttered roll, my partner ordered sausage with chips and curry sauce, also with a buttered roll. The food arrived quickly, it was all absolutely delicious and the food was hot - my only criticism was that there wasn’t much gravy (which comes in a separate pot) The staff were all friendly and the room upstairs is nice and cosy, I would say some of the tables are a bit crammed in but they only have so much space to utilise. Overall, a local legend for good reason and a must-have if you’re in Keswick and fancy a chippy!

A really great fish and chip shop with restaurant upstairs. Six of us dined there and all the food was delicious. Beautiful clean surroundings with a lovely view of the market place. All the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable and fast service. We have never been here before but were not disappointed. I can't really think what else you would expect from it. Brilliant.

Asked for two large chips and 3 fish and got 1 fish with no ships and 2 fish with pathetic quantities of chips. Rip off. See fish under chips 😂 I expected 3 chips and 2 large chips in one pack And no tartar sauce. Go to the Kingfisher instead
